Description
History
Van Essen Instruments was founded in 1938 and is located in Delft, The Netherlands. Since 1995, Van Essen Instruments has focused their efforts on their strong development department. The company has gained an excellent reputation, both nationally and internationally, by targeting specific and promising market segments. This focus has enabled Van Essen Instruments to distinguish itself from its competitors in the quality and practicality of its instruments.
Market focus
Van Essen Instruments concentrates on the following market segments: groundwater, surface water, and sewage water. For these market segments, Van Essen Instruments is leveraging the knowledge it has built with Pressure Sensors and Dataloggers.
The Pressure Sensor, Datalogger, and battery are integrated into a single robust device that uniquely records groundwater, surface or sewage water measurements without human intervention
New instruments are planned that will build on this unique concept of reliability, accuracy and compact dimensions.
Development strategy
In addition to developing instruments for the water market, Van Essen Instruments is considering marketing their products in other areas. Demand for the measurement of water quality parameters is growing in new markets, such as soil remediation and landfill management. Van Essen Instruments has development projects underway with national and international partners to meet these increasing demands with new, robust sensors.
Schlumberger
Schlumberger has acquired Van Essen Instruments in 2001. Currently, customers are using VEI instrumentation to assess and monitor water resources, to protect groundwater, to manage integrated aquifers, and to monitor geohazards. VEI, with its competence in water sensors and worldwide market presence, will also play a strategic role in Schlumberger's development of a full service water and geohazards monitoring business. Synergy with Schlumberger will open new resources to strengthen VEI's sales and marketing activities and to expand their development program.
