Description

Development Cooperation community. The objective is to enhance water&sanitation programs that gives access to safe water and adequate sanitation to the poor, thus contributing to the Millennium Development Goal nr 7 and linked to other MDG targets (food, economic development, health, child mortality and sustainable watergovernance). Business development is leading long term principle, together with capacity building as pre-condition for sustainable development. The leverage of financial means through smart alliances in complementory partnerships is the essential instrument to merge financial instruments for specific purposes. In the period 2006-2010 16 million euros from DGIS were levered with 13,5 million euros from civil society and private business initiatives, resulting in an access for 2,5 million people to safe water and sanitation.

Aqua for All offers the watersector a membership contract with specific benefits in terms of network, matchmaking and disclosure of additional funding. Three focus areas are new sanitation, rainwater-recharge/retention/re use (3R) and Appropriate technology for the BoP (base of the pyramid).
