Wakay Pumping Station

Bosman Watermanagement received from the Surinam governement (Ministry of P.L.O.S.) the contract for the rehabilitation of the Wakay Pumping Station.This pumping station was built in the period 1982-1985 and is used for irrigation of the rice polders in the North West Nickerie district of Surinam. The pumping station has a total pump capacity of 30 m3/s.The civil and electrical rehabilitation has been done by local subcontractors. The pumps with valves and diesel engines are revised by Bosman Watermanagement.

Goals

The, for rice production very important, Wakay pumping station was in a very bad condition. The Rehalibilitation of this pumping station was necessary to secure the availability of enough irrigation water for the rice farmers.
