The Indonesian Government has requested assistance from the Dutch Government in the context of Flood Management for Jakarta. One of the projects resulting from this request is the Pilot Dredging Project in which Dutch dredging technology for dredging urban canals will be introduced.

Goals

• Introduce the responsible authorities, stakeholders and public in Jakarta the latest urban small-scale dredging techniques
• Train local operators appointed by the authorities so that they will be able to conduct maintenance dredging and rehabilitation works of small channels in the future themselves
• Stimulate engagement of the local population in the manual dredging of very small drains (micro-drains) and motivate them for changing the existing habitude of solid waste dumping
