The Netherlands is a relatively small deltaic region in Western Europe. Three major rivers the Rhine, the Muese and the Scheldt fan out accross the country before flowing into the North Sea. From the early middle ages onwords, the country reclaimed and defended land form the sea. Therefore, the Netherlands has much experience in water management and the Dutch water managment skills are known world wide.

Over the past decades the Netherlands have developed and implemented some innovative concepts like Room for the River and the Sandmotor. Many of this concepts are used for solving water management issues around the world. In addition, a substanial amount of Dutch-based firms in the water sector collaborate with partners abroad to solve global water solutions.
