The world’s leading water conference, World Water Week, takes place in Stockholm and online from 24 to 28 August. The theme for this year is “Water for Climate Action”. The Week will focus on addressing the linked emergencies of climate change, environment degradation and biodiversity loss.

As in previous years, a Netherlands Pavilion will be realised for the joint participation of the Dutch water sector. The Pavilion will offer visitors the chance to connect with Dutch exhibitors and hear about their water related solutions and innovations first hand. Additionally, a knowledge programme is being coordinated by Partners for Water, organiser and host of the Pavilion.

Water for Climate Action

Each World Water Week revolves around a specific theme chosen to both shape and mirror the global agenda. The purpose of the Week is to spotlight this theme, stimulate meaningful discussion, foster new agreements, and draw insights from a variety of sectors. This year’s event will address ‘Water for Climate Action’.

Water plays a pivotal role in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to build resilience safeguarding ecosystems and communities. World Water Week 2025 will focus on addressing the linked emergencies of climate change, environment degradation and biodiversity loss, emphasising both mitigation and adaptation, alongside the broader goal of enhancing resilience.

Established in 1991, World Water Week attracts a large and diverse audience of experts and decision makers. In 2024, 15.000 participants from 198 countries and territories joined the conference, including ministers, leading scientists, representatives from NGOs, civil society, and Indigenous Peoples, as well as the President of the UN General Assembly.

The conference programme includes high-level panels, the awarding of the prestigious Stockholm Junior Water Prize, talk shows, exhibitions, workshops, seminars, film screenings, and discussions.

Netherlands Pavilion

The Partners for Water programme will organise and host the Netherlands Pavilion on behalf of the Government of the Netherlands.

The Pavilion will act as a lively meeting point: a place to meet and greet Dutch and international water experts, and share knowledge and expertise through presentations and discussions.

Be part of the Week

You can join the conference both online and in Stockholm, Sweden. The vast majority of sessions will be accessible online. To make World Water Week more inclusive, online participation is free of charge. Registration is required.
