The Dutch water sector will play an active role in the UN 2026 Water Conference, taking place from 8–10 December 2026 in the United Arab Emirates. Co-hosted by the United Arab Emirates and Senegal, the conference aims to accelerate global action towards Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6): ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

As the world enters the final years of the 2030 Agenda, the conference provides an important opportunity to strengthen international cooperation, showcase practical solutions, and mobilise the investment, innovation and political commitment needed to achieve a water-secure future. The Dutch water sector is well positioned to contribute to these discussions through its internationally recognised expertise in water governance, climate adaptation, flood resilience, water technology and integrated water resources management.

Building on the momentum of the previous UN Water Conference in New York in 2023, co-hosted by the Netherlands, and recent high-level preparatory meetings involving Dutch water sector stakeholders, organisations from across the Netherlands are working together to shape a strong and coordinated contribution to the conference. The 2023 conference helped establish the global Water Action Agenda and renewed international commitment to accelerating progress towards SDG 6.

Through sessions, side events, and knowledge exchange, Dutch organisations will showcase how collaboration, innovation and integrated approaches can contribute to addressing global water challenges and achieving a water-secure future for all.

On this page, we will share updates on Dutch participation and developments related to the conference.
