Groundwater cannot be seen, but its impact is visible everywhere. Groundwater is an important source for essentials such as drinking water, energy, food and ecosystem services. In order to cope with challenges and to sustainably manage groundwater reserves for future generations, the Netherlands are studying ways on how to reduce groundwater use, increase infiltration and limit contaminations of clean reserves, all within the context of a rapidly changing climate.
