Euroconsult Mott MacDonald to lead natural resource management programme, Indonesia
Consultancy firm Euroconsult Mott MacDonald has been appointed to manage a 25 million US dollar programme on community-based natural resource management to help enhance sustainable economic growth in eastern Indonesia.
The programme is part of Indonesian Green prosperity project by the US donor agency Millennium Challenge Account, which aims to address critical constraints to economic growth while supporting the government of Indonesia to achieve a more sustainable, less carbon-intensive future.
Management of watersheds
The grant programme is intended to fund small-scale projects that promote community-based initiatives in forestry, agriculture and renewable energy.
They will help improve the management of watersheds and forests to improve the sustainability of renewable energy and agricultural investments, while also supporting rural livelihoods and economic development.
Up to 55 projects are expected to be implemented as part of a targeted programme in Sulawesi, Lombok and Sumba. The programme will focus on local non-government organisations, community groups and other community-based organisations so they can benefit from investments.
Land use changes
Euroconsult Mott MacDonald will be responsible for project proposals, socialisation initiatives and raising awareness of the CBNRM programme.
The consultancy will also manage the provision of training and financial administration, as well as the oversight, monitoring and evaluation of individual projects.
